Annually, the NCDOT presents The Business Opportunity and Workforce Development (BOWD) Awards to organizations that have exemplified the spirit and purpose of NCDOT’s diversity programming. The Diamond Award for Prime Contractor of the Year is awarded to an NCDOT contractor that has demonstrated success both in completing projects and in meeting participation goals for minority and women contractors. In this regard, APAC-Atlantic was extremely successful in 2010. APAC successfully bid ten projects totaling $46 million, and achieved the contract goals on all ten projects. This represented 40 subcontracts valued at $4.4 million to minority and women-owned firms. The NCDOT staff commented on the success of APAC in working hand in hand with our DBE subs and having zero complaints from DBEs regarding payment or project administration. Based on this record of success in 2010, the NCDOT honors APAC-Atlantic, Inc., Thompson-Arthur Division with the BOWD Diamond Award for Prime Contractor of the Year.
